Everything I observed, be it trees, buildings, mountains, flowers or rocks, came alive to me. Not only do I want to show obvious beauty, but I want to show their spiritual nature and how they live in harmony. Sometimes I carry the original image with me for months or even years until it becomes a painting. - Larisa Aukon Larisa Aukon, Latvian-born painter. Living in the United States for over 20 years, she is an excellent painter and teacher. Larisa's education and talent allow her to create perfectly mixed and layered palettes supported by a balanced compositional framework. She paints the canvases in rich colours, boldly capturing the changing hues of natural light. Colors from the first few layers permeate into the subsequent ones, creating the radiant depth that has become her signature. Larisa received her initial artistic training at a prestigious art school in her native Latvia. This is a school for gifted children who must pass a series of arts exams to be admitted. Afterwards, she was admitted to the Latvian State Academy of Fine Arts in Riga, where she received a master's degree. Larisa lived and worked in Arizona for the last 20 years of her life. Tragically, Larisa Aukon passed away on August 30, 2018 from brain cancer.
