Feel the beauty of speed: Fuji X-H2S, the flagship of APS-C format performance

Commercial photographer Dou Xiao is good at shooting sports and outdoor advertisements. In 2014, Fuji released the X-T1 camera, which is both professional and retro. This is the first Fuji mirrorless digital camera I bought. Over the years, I have unknowingly formed a lot of connections with the Fuji brand. I have also changed from an editor and a photography enthusiast back then to a professional photographer, shooting all over the country and around the world, recording more beautiful moments. Fuji X-H2S+XF8-16mmF2.8 R LM WR. f/2.8, 1/3200 sec, ISO 400. Photo by Dou Xiao In the past few years as a professional photographer, I have always hoped to take pictures with "life force". This is not necessarily a dynamic moment, but it must reflect the true state of the subject or the scene at that time. , the viewer can feel the feeling that I want to share at that time, and get a lot of information in a short period of time. High-speed, intense, explosive, most of my shoots are high-speed bursts to capture a large number of pictures and pick out the best ones. My adjustments and thinking are all in this continuous shooting, and new angles and new moments will give me a steady stream of inspiration. Like a small stream, it can flow slowly but not stagnant. So from the beginning, I was not the kind of photographer who stood, compose, aim, and shoot. The requirements for the equipment were: fast and smooth. Fuji X-H2S+XF50-140mmF2.8 R LM OIS WR. f/2.8, 1/2500 sec, ISO 640. Dou Xiao Photography The advancement of technology has subtly changed the shooting habits. In previous shootings, some extreme moments required luck to capture, such as air rifles popping out of the chambers, tennis rackets hitting moments, and so on. But now, with the improvement of AI automatic continuous focus technology and the ultra-high-speed continuous shooting performance brought by the mirrorless structure, capturing these moments has become more efficient and easier. Fuji X-H2S+XF50-140mmF2.8 R LM OIS WR. f/2.8, 1/4000th of a second, ISO 800. Photo by Dou Xiao At the beginning of this year, I got a new Fujifilm X-H2S in advance, and I needed to use it to shoot photos for a new Fuji promotional project. I took a look at the parameters introduced: the continuous shooting speed of 40 frames per second under the electronic shutter, the JPEG unlimited continuous shooting that supports 30 frames per second, the video specifications of 6K 30p and 4K 120p, and the anti-shake performance of 7.0 stops. The specs are astounding. I can't wait to get it out and try it out to see how much improved it is from the previous product. At the same time, I'm also curious about the blackout-free, jelly-effect control of the electronic shutter, and how the camera actually works. So, before shooting the official project, I took it to shoot a bicycle snow downhill race to see how the machine performs. There are three main reasons for choosing the bicycle snow downhill race: first, this race is a straight road, straight up and down, and the oncoming high-speed moving objects test the camera's autofocus performance; secondly, the snow under the sun, Such an environment with a large light ratio can test the quality of the JPEG files straight out of the camera and the latitude in the later stage; finally, each racing car gallops past the camera in two or three seconds. If the continuous shooting speed is not enough, the shooting can only be done. Returned empty-handed. Fuji X-H2S+XF8-16mmF2.8 R LM WR. f/9, 1/1000th of a second, ISO 400. Dou Xiao's photo of Fuji X-H2S+XF8-16mmF2.8 R LM WR. f/6, 1/1000th of a second, ISO 400. Photo by Dou Xiao After this test, I have a more intuitive understanding of the Fuji X-H2S: the speed is unprecedented. Thanks to the fifth-generation X-Trans CMOS 5 HS sensor and X-Processor 5 processor, the autofocus performance of the Fuji X-H2S is a huge improvement over all previous generations. The burst speed of 40 fps allows me to capture the best moments in one shot. The adjustment of the in-camera curve and the film simulation function allow my straight JPEGs to have good latitude and color performance, and the details can be fully displayed in high light ratios. The overall trial shooting made me feel that it can fully undertake the task of "working", so I started to plan a formal sample shooting project with confidence. Fuji X-H2S+XF33mmF1.4 R LM WR. f/1.4, 1/26000 sec, ISO 640. Photo by Dou Xiao was during the Beijing Winter Olympics at the time, and everyone paid a lot of attention to the ice and snow events. I also traveled with the Chinese national ice hockey team to film the World Championships. Therefore, I found a professional venue to organize an in-team training session. To shoot samples, I hope to maximize the potential of this camera through different shooting scenes in the ice hockey rink. In ice hockey games, the various movements of the athletes are very intense. On the one hand, this kind of shooting requires relatively high prediction and experience of the photographer, and at the same time, it has higher requirements for the camera's focus tracking and continuous shooting speed. Fuji X-H2S+XF50-140mmF2.8 R LM OIS WR. f/2.8, 1/2500 sec, ISO 640. Dou Xiao The ergonomic design of Fuji X-H2S, 40 frames per second continuous shooting, large continuous shooting buffer, combined with the focusing ability far exceeding previous products, greatly improved my shooting experience and efficiency. In previous shootings, it may take the athlete to repeat many times to get a satisfactory work. Now, with the 40 fps continuous shooting, I can get a satisfying moment by asking the athlete to do one or two movements, and the jelly effect control under the electronic shutter is better than I expected. At the same time, the EVF refresh rate of this camera has reached 120FPS, which amazes me very much. I can achieve no blackout during the continuous shooting process, which makes my shooting rhythm smoother and more comfortable. The all-weather protection of the camera allows me to shoot stably and smoothly in harsh environments. In a low temperature environment, it can take more than 1,000 photos, and the battery life is good. Fuji X-H2S+XF50-140mmF2.8 R LM OIS WR. f/2.8, 1/2500 sec, ISO 640. Photo by Dou Xiao This time, the shooting time was not long. In more than an hour, I filmed various technical movements of 4 players. The Fuji X-H2S successfully captured various extreme moments. I think it is a qualified speed The flagship camera, I believe it will bring photographers a new experience in sports and other shooting in the future. A few days after the sample evaluation, I made an appointment with my new friends Wang Liang and Hailong for a fly fishing experience, because I really wanted to figure out what the charm of fishing is. I have read too many articles about fishing recently, and there are many reasons for everyone to be immersed in them, but one thing in common is that they can get into a state of being free from distractions and highly concentrated in this sport. Fuji X-H2S+XF56mmF1.2 R. f/2.2, 1/1000th of a second, ISO 640. Dou Xiaoshe Fly fishing is a visually elegant sport. Some outdoor brands describe this sport as follows: On the one hand, this "elegance" is reflected in the skills of fly fishing - the use of special fly fishing rods and fly fishing rods. Combined with the fly fishing technique, the line can silently drop an insect lure on the water surface, and then draw the line to simulate the action of the insect struggling to swim, which is fatal to the attraction of many fish. Because the weight of the hook used as a lure is almost zero, the casting action must be controlled by the weight of the line and the line loop to send the bait to the target position, and the rigid and flexible drawing action makes the fishing line dance. Beautiful, so fly fishing has won the reputation of the dancer in the fishing. Fuji X-H2S+XF50-140mmF2.8 R LM OIS WR. f/3.2, 1/3200 sec, ISO 640. Dou Xiao There is a very interesting concept in fly fishing: fishing - taking pictures - releasing. What I understand is that the real fun isn't "there's a fish to eat tonight", it's that the bait I made myself actually hooked the fish and caught bigger, prettier, rarer fish! Wang Liang said: "A large part of the fun of this sport is to go to a natural place and devote yourself to it, without traces of camping and fishing." Fuji X-H2S+XF50-140mmF2.8 R LM OIS WR. f/2.2, 1/1000th of a second, ISO 640. Dou Xiao took Fuji X-H2S+XF33mmF1.4 R LM WR. f/1.4, 1/6400 sec, ISO 640. Photo by Dou Xiao I unknowingly stood in the water all afternoon until sunset. The water flows through the waterproof pants, and the body slowly feels the water pressure, which is also a new experience. And watching people fly fishing, tossing and drawing lines between mountains and rivers, is really fascinating. In this event, the camera disappeared for me, because it is small and portable, and the lens group is also very light, so even if I take the machine in the water for so long, I don’t feel burdened. At this moment, the person and the camera merge into one, and it sinks into this landscape with me. Fuji X-H2S+XF50-140mmF2.8 R LM OIS WR. f/4, 1/1600 sec, ISO 640. Photo by Dou Xiao I have always believed that taking pictures is a pleasant thing, and it is also a lot of fun to play with the camera. Nowadays, the performance of various machines is getting more and more powerful, which makes my creation more unimpeded, and allows photographers to focus their energy Focusing on what to shoot and how to shoot, rather than worrying about whether or not to shoot, is indeed a benefit brought by the advancement of technology and camera technology. I hope everyone can use the machine that weighs their hands to record more moving moments and create more imaginative works.
