Marla Baggetta | Addicted to pastels, and this addiction must be a positive thing

Painter Marla Baggetta Marla Baggetta is a prolific painter and teacher who has worked across the country for over 30 years, contributing to many art publications including Pastel Journal, a signature member of the PSA and a recipient of the IAPS Circle of Masters. She is a graduate of the Art Center School of Design in Pasadena, California. Worked as a commercial illustrator for 25 years. After moving to Oregon in 1993, she was inspired by the beauty of the Willamette Valley and began painting landscapes that blended realism and abstraction to convey a sense of calm and balance. Among her many awards and honors, including the Park's Annual Jury Art Show. She has been featured in Pastel Journal and has been listed in Pure Color: The Best of Pastel and Sketchbook Confidential II. She is the author of Step by Step Pastel for Walter Foster Publishing. Her paintings can be found in numerous public and private collections across the country. Describing her obsession with pastels on her blog, she said: "If this addiction is something, it can also be a positive thing, lo and behold, like pastels!"
