The first series of "Extraordinary Photography" is calling for contributions

Photographer friends who know the history of Japanese photography or have heard of Robert Frank probably know "subjective documentary photography", a photographic art form that is significantly different from traditional objective documentary. In the current trend of world photography art, the West is more inclined to traditional objective documentary and artistic photography, while Japan, due to the efforts and rise of a large number of photographers after the war, finally left a strong impression on the world photography history with "subjective documentary photography". a sum. The history of photography in China is actually not short, but due to the constraints of the social environment and other factors, in the end, the great photographic country has a good record in the history of the development of photography art. It should not be denied here that a small number of Chinese photographers have carried out very useful and fruitful explorations in the development of global photography history, and some even have reached international standards in terms of ideas and creative strength. However, when considered in the overall environment, their achievements and influence still seem weak. I am not from a professional background and have no intention of starting a new hill, but after going deep into the field of photography, I know that it is difficult to improve the overall level of Chinese photography art through the innovation and hard work of stragglers. First, there are too many temptations for photographers in this materialistic world; secondly, if there were no "VIVO" and "Provoke" in the Japanese photography industry, two very "alternative" and short-lived photography organizations at the time , should not have the brilliance of Japanese photography today. Today's photography and art seem very close yet seem far away. Most of the photographic photos we see on a daily basis are like McDonald's fries, and I can't feel it in an instant. What kind of photography can leave its mark on history? It seems that no one has a say in the present before the conclusion is reached, but we can and should work hard to create what we want to keep. Such creations are like family heirlooms hidden deep in the home. They are familiar and beloved by oneself, but not necessarily felt by outsiders. If we can gather our "baby" together, maybe we can create a market if we are really small, and influence the trend if we are big. "Extraordinary photography" should actually be understood as "extraordinary photography" and "extraordinary photography". Because most of what fills our eyes every day are McDonald's fries rather than "heirlooms". So what is "extraordinary photography"? As far as my current cognition is concerned, photography works that use the lens only as a tool to express one's true feelings and feelings without being rigid in form and fully express one's thoughts, opinions and emotions are what I envision as "extraordinary photography". People who don't understand such works may think it's garbage or even doubt whether the photographer will take pictures. But like the works of art by masters such as Jackson Pollock or Lucian Freud, art is no longer about pleasing the eye, but about revealing parts of humanity, and the same is true of photography. "Extraordinary photography" can include a lot of what is now definable, such as documentary photography, street photography, art photography, photographic installations, and even NFTs, to name a few. As long as we haven't thought about it, we can try and explore. This is also the pointer of my personal creative practice. Of course, the weak platform "Extraordinary Photography" hopes that more photographers who are persistent but not understood by ordinary people will join in and truly work hard for their artistic ideals. Instructions for the call for contributions: 1. This call for contributions is not limited to themes.
