Master these 3 light characteristics, say goodbye to "going here", every photo is wonderful

It is said that photography is the art of using light, so how to make good use of light? This is not only a basic skill, but also an important content that reflects the level of photographers. No matter how much you fiddle with the camera and how much you frame the shot, you will eventually find that light plays the most decisive role in a finished photograph. Because light is the soul of photography, if you want to learn photography well, you must know light, understand light, and master how to use light. In our daily life, the most common light source is the sun, sunrise and sunset, and the stars are changing.

First, the color of light

Careful friends can easily find that the color of the sun is constantly changing from morning to night. A warm reddish-yellow in the early morning and evening, white at noon, and a mysterious blue in shades and cloudy days. We can make full use of these colors when shooting to create a gorgeous picture. For example, the sun rays in the morning and evening sky are rich in color, which can be used to increase the appeal of the picture.

Second, the intensity of light

The change of light is also reflected in the difference in intensity. At noon on a sunny day, the light intensity is relatively large. At this time, the object will transmit a heavy shadow on the ground, and the light intensity of the light-receiving surface and the backlight surface is very different. In the morning and evening, the line intensity of the split light will be relatively weak, the light ratio is small, and the projection is large. When some cloudy days or thin clouds cover the sun, the light will also be weak, and the projection of the object is very light or even no projection. Under normal circumstances, landscape photography should be avoided when the light is strong and the light ratio is large. Why many photographers like to get up early and stay up late is because the sunlight in the morning and evening is relatively soft and the color is richer, which is more suitable for expressing the color and texture of the scene. When the light ratio is small, it is easier to control the exposure, so as to achieve better shooting results. But most of the good light is not encountered, but waited. If you want to make a good film, you have to be there before sunrise and go home after sunset. If you're not determined to suffer, I can say with certainty that you won't be able to go further in landscape photography.

Three, the direction of the light

The direction of the light is also very important for shooting. We usually divide it into front light, side light, backlight, top light and bottom light Wait. Top light and bottom light are rarely used in photography. Below I will introduce the front light, side light and backlight in detail. 1. Shunguang: Shunguang refers to the light irradiated from the front of the subject. Its characteristic is that it can express the shape and color of the subject very well. The downside is that the photos taken are easy to lack three-dimensionality, such as the effect in the picture below. Of course, it doesn't mean that Shunguang can't take good photos. The following sunshine Jinshan was taken in Shunguang. Because my camera position was on the opposite mountain and the sunset was behind me, the nearby mountains in the picture were all in shadow. Through this light and dark contrast and color contrast, the brilliant effect of Rizhao Jinshan is highlighted. 2. Side light: The light coming from the left and right sides of the subject is side light. Side light can make the subject produce a strong contrast between light and dark, and can make the picture show a strong sense of three-dimensionality, shape and texture. The picture above is a classic side-lit photo. We can imagine that if it was in a smooth light state at that time, the middle part of the picture would appear very empty. The shadow cast by the side light not only enhances the three-dimensional effect of the picture, but also makes the photo more vivid. 3. Backlight: The light coming from behind the subject is backlight. Backlight can better highlight the outline of the subject, which is also the most dramatic way of using light, which can create a dramatic or artistic image. The outline of the persimmon and the leaves in the above picture is very prominent, and the leaves also become very transparent under the backlight. The silhouette light of the horse's mane in the picture below is also very charming in the backlight. In addition, you can also shoot beautiful portrait silhouettes in backlight. (5 tips for taking beautiful portrait silhouette photos) In fact, the biggest difference between landscape lighting and ordinary travel photos is the light. No matter how beautiful the scenery is, under the pale sunlight at noon, you can only take a "visit photo". This is the [Mobile Phone Photography Manual], I am Yang Tao.
