FUJINON LENS GF20-35mmF4 R WR Announced

Fujifilm is proud to announce the launch of the "Fujinon Lens GF20-35mmF4 R WR" (GF20-35mmF4 R WR). It's a new addition to GF's lineup of interchangeable lenses, built for the GFX series of mirrorless digital cameras, with a medium-format sensor (image sensor is 55mm diagonally (43.8mm x 32.9mm), about 1.7 times larger than a 35mm full-frame sensor) Equivalent to about 1.7 times that of a full-frame 35mm sensor. The GF20-35mmF4 R WR is a wide-angle zoom lens that covers a variety of focal lengths, from ultra-wide 20mm to wide-angle 35mm (equivalent to 16mm-28mm focal length in 35mm format). With the advanced features of the GFX series cameras, the wide-angle lens with the closest focal length of only 20mm (16mm equivalent in 35mm format) can capture fine details such as expansive landscapes or cityscapes with high precision and high resolution. The wide-angle field of view is much wider than the human eye's field of view, allowing you to capture subjects directly in front of you from close range. Unlike traditional medium format photography equipment, the lens is easy to use and has a constant F4 aperture throughout the zoom range. In addition, its lenses feature a compact and lightweight design for improved portability. It is ideal for users who travel long distances in search of vast wild landscapes, as well as for small-space panoramas, unique perspective photos, or scenes with a documentary style. Enjoy the pleasure of a wide-angle lens and capture every detail in front of your eyes with the extra light that only a medium format camera system can provide. The GF20-35mmF4 R WR consists of 14 elements in 10 groups, including three aspherical lenses, one ED aspherical lens and three ED lenses, which can effectively control various types of aberrations and provide excellent image resolution performance. To suppress ghosting and lens flare commonly found in wide-angle lenses, the new lens is coated with a nano-GI (gradient index of refraction) coating, which effectively controls obliquely incident light to minimize ghosting and lens flare for image clarity . . The GF20-35mmF4 R WR features an ultra-compact design that weighs just 725g despite being a constant F4 ultra-wide zoom lens. The commonly used 82mm filter aperture is compatible with a variety of filters, broadening the range of visual expression. Traditional wide-angle lenses tend to be bulky, but Fujifilm has adopted a compact design for this lens, ideal for landscape photographers looking for expansive views outdoors for long periods of time.

Product Features

1. As a wide-angle zoom lens, it expands the wide-angle product line of GF series lenses, aiming to pursue excellent image quality. The focal length of the new lens ranges from ultra-wide-angle 20mm to Wide-angle 35mm (16-28mm focal length in 35mm equivalent format), the widest among Fujifilm GF-series lenses, captures subjects with great detail in expansive landscapes or cityscapes, and takes advantage of the wide-angle lens' unique perspective to shoot. • The GF20-35mmF4 R WR consists of 14 elements in 10 groups, including three aspherical lenses, one ED aspherical lens and three ED lenses, which can effectively control distortion and chromatic aberration to achieve excellent image resolution performance. As a result, this lens can present all the information of the captured subject within the wide angle of view with greater precision. • The lens uses Fujifilm's unique Nano GI coating technology. When incident light enters the lens, the coating smoothly changes the refractive index of the incident light to reduce light reflection, effectively reducing ghosting and lens flare even in the presence of oblique incident light.

2. The compact design adds portability to medium format cameras

•The nearly symmetrical structure of the lens, with its centrally located aperture, not only provides excellent aberration correction, but also Keep the body small and light. Taking advantage of the short flange distance unique to mirrorless cameras, the optical design has been optimized to the maximum to achieve a balance between image quality and weight/volume. The lens weighs only 725g and measures about 112.5mm. Although it is a wide-angle zoom lens, the filter diameter is only 82mm. The regular 82mm filter port is used, allowing users to use various filters when shooting landscapes. The use of an internal zoom system maintains the fixed length of the lens, helping to reduce the weight of the lens and simplify zooming operations. •Each lens group contains four aspherical lenses to optimize the total number of lenses and their configuration. This combination not only effectively corrects aberrations and ensures excellent image quality, but also keeps the body compact and lightweight. The surface of the high-curvature concave lens commonly used in wide-angle lenses is coated with a special coating of uniform thickness to reduce ghosting caused by uneven coating thickness. • Components around the lens mount are made of magnesium alloy, which is light and strong. The component shape has been improved to keep the lens mount area slim and accommodate the internal zoom system, keeping the lens length the same. These features make this lens very easy to hold and operate, unlike other bulky wide-angle zoom lenses.

3. The lens is sturdy and durable, dust-proof and drip-proof, and can work in temperatures as low as -10°C

•The lens barrel has 12 sealing points, which not only ensures the protection against Dust-proof and drip-proof, it can also guarantee the normal operation of the lens in temperatures as low as -10°C. The front lens is coated with fluorine to resist drips and stains. Users can use the lens to capture landscapes with peace of mind in harsh conditions, whether it's snow-covered fields, scorching tropical regions, or harsh outdoor environments.
